FAQs

DAYCARE

What are the hours of daycare?

Daycare operates Monday through Friday between 7:00 am and 5:30 pm. Drop off is between 7:00 am - 10:00 am and pick up is between 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm.

What is the process for daycare admission?

Before attending daycare, your pup needs to pass a FREE Daycare Assessment. This is to ensure they are a good fit for our daycare crew. In this assessment we test their socialization skills and separation anxiety. These are quick 15 minute appointments at our property of 3023 Westdel Bourne, we offer them Monday-Friday between 12pm-3pm. If interested in booking an assessment, please fill out a Daycare Inquiry Form.

What does a typical day look like?

You drop your dog off during the drop-off window (7:00 am - 10:00 am) and from there its all day, all play! We seperate pups into our spacious pens based on their personality and energy levels. We carefully supervise their play to ensure that everyone is happy and safe. Then, you pick up a tired pup at pick-up time (3:00 pm - 5:30 pm).

What do I need to bring to daycare?

Ensure your dog has a properly fitted flat collar, this means you can only fit two fingers between it and your pup. You can also bring their lunch and medicine in clearly labelled containers.

How do I book in daycare days?

Once your pup has passed an assessment, you will be given access to our Members app. On the app you can purchase and book in daycare sessions. Bookings close at the beginning of each daycare session for the day (7:00 am).

What kind of pups are accepted into daycare?

We accept pups that are a safe fit for themselves and the other dogs here. During the assessment we test for separation anxiety and socialization skills. Dogs with a reactivity or extreme separation anxiety (eg. trying to jump fences) will not be accepted into the program and should instead work towards those goals with training

What vaccinations are required to attend daycare?

Pups must be up to date on their Rabies, DAPP, and Bordetella. We also recommend having Leptospirosis as well. Vaccination certificates will need to be provided before attending a Daycare Assessment.

TRAINING

What are the hours of training?

Training operates Monday through Saturday in hour long sessions. The available times vary based on the season. We operate training on our property of 3023 Westdel Bourne during daylight hours. This means during the winter we have shorter hours than in the summer. When purchasing a Training Package you get offered a couple in-home sessions, these can be done outside of daylight hours at your home.

What type of training do you offer?

We offer balanced training, also known as the scientific method. This uses a mix of positive reinforcement and gentle discouragement to set clear boundaries for your pup.

Who should attend training?

We recommend all family members who interact with your pup on a regular basis attend training! This way, everyone learns the tools and techniques we use to train your pup and sets your family up for success!

What should I bring to training?

The only thing you need to bring is yourself and you pup(s)! Make sure your dog's collar is properly tightened (can fit two fingers underneath) before their training session. You can also bring along some treats that they enjoy.

GROOMING

What are the hours of grooming? How long do grooms take?

Grooming operates Monday through Friday between 7:00 am - 5:30 pm. The amount of time it takes for pet grooming varies by breed and service, but you can usually plan on it taking 1-3 hours. Minor services, such as nail trims, take approximately 5-10 minutes.

Do you offer full body cuts?

We don't currently offer full body cuts, although we are happy to provide a face, feet, and sani trim.

How do I book in a groom?

To book in a groom, please fill out our Grooming Request Form. Once the form is complete we will be in touch to schedule a date for your pup's pamper. Daycare clients only can book in a Nail Trim/Grind or a Bath Request on their members app.

How do I pay for my groom?

Once your groom is complete, the groomer will send over an online invoice and will let you know it is time to pick up your pup.

How often does my dog need a bath? Is there such a thing as too many baths?

You should bathe your dog at least once a month (unless they're prone to dry skin).  There is such a thing as too many baths, and excessive bathing can harm your pet. Bathing your dog with shampoo and conditioner too often can strip their natural oils, which can result in a dry/dull coat and itchy skin. This is one of the reasons we provide our Half Baths to Daycare Clients. This service doesn’t include shampoo or conditioner, so your dog can run around all day at daycare and get a rinse and dry off so at pick-up you’ll get a clean and a tired pup.

How often should I get my dog's nails trimmed?

It is recommended to get your dog's nails done every 3-4 weeks. However, this can vary based on a dog's age and even the breed. If your dog's nails grow fast it is a good idea to have them done more frequently. Puppies and senior dogs should get their nails trimmed every 2 weeks to help remove the sharpness for puppies and to help prevent any health issues and prevent their quicks (blood vessels) from getting longer on seniors.

What is the difference between a nail trim and nail grind? What is the benefit of grinding?

Trimming clips the nail shorter, while grinding is a tool that can give a smoother finish to the nails and gets you closer to the quick (blood vessel). In time the grinder also helps the quick become smaller, so the nails won’t be as long. This is super beneficial for puppies and seniors.
